September has come to an end, but if you feel like you might have missed some of the biggest happenings in the eCommerce world, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. This month saw major platform upgrades, including Adobe’s new AI agents and Shopify’s advanced tools for multi-store analytics and quick in-person payments, alongside leading industry innovations like Omnisend’s AI-powered messaging, Amazon’s intelligent Seller Assistant, and Klaviyo’s marketing and customer support agents.
Here’s a quick look at everything that happened in eCommerce this September.
Platform Updates
Adobe Announces General Availability of AI Agents for Businesses

On September 10, 2025, Adobe announced the general availability of AI agents. Built on Adobe Experience Platform, these agents go beyond simple chatbots. They can automate complex tasks like audience building, customer journey orchestration, A/B testing, data insights, and even site optimization. With an Agent Orchestrator at the core, they work contextually across channels, combining autonomy with human oversight. Adobe is also introducing tools like the Agent Composer and Agent SDK to let businesses customize and extend agents to their unique needs.
Shopify Launches Quick Sale for Fast In-Person Payments

Shopify has introduced a new Quick Sale feature in its mobile app, making it easier than ever for merchants to accept in-person payments on the go. With Quick Sale, you can add products by search, barcode scan, or custom amounts, then instantly collect payments using Tap to Pay or cash. You can also apply discounts, manage taxes, add notes, and send receipts via email or SMS, all from your phone. Quick Sale is perfect for pop-up shops, markets, or any situation where you need to sell quickly and keep things simple.
Shopify Introduces Multi-Store Reporting in Analytics
Shopify has unveiled multi-store reporting in Analytics, giving Plus organizations a unified view of performance across all their stores. Instead of switching between different admins, merchants can now track sales, orders, and key metrics in one place, whether across the entire business or selected stores. The feature also allows comparisons by store, region, or brand, and even supports multiple currencies. Accessible from a new default multi-store section in the analytics dashboard or through custom sections tailored to specific KPIs, this update makes it easier for large, multi-store businesses to monitor and act on insights at scale.
Shopify Sidekick Gets Voice Mode for Hands-Free Assistance
Shopify has added a new Voice Mode to Sidekick, its AI assistant that combines commerce knowledge with advanced reasoning and creative problem solving. This allows users to have real conversations with the assistant instead of just typing. You can now speak directly to Sidekick and receive spoken responses, making it easier to get guidance without breaking your workflow in the Shopify admin. Currently available in English on desktop through early access, Shopify plans to expand support to more languages and mobile devices soon.

Amazon has upgraded its Seller Assistant with a new agentic AI, transforming it into a proactive partner for independent sellers. Instead of just responding to requests, the tool can now understand a seller’s account, anticipate needs, and take authorized actions on their behalf. Using technologies like Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Nova, and Anthropic Claude, the assistant can monitor account health, optimize inventory, and suggest strategic solutions, helping sellers manage their businesses more efficiently. The goal is to simplify day to day operations so sellers can focus on growing and improving their business rather than getting bogged down in routine tasks.
