Project Overview
Codilar partnered with Lals Group to design, build, and optimize the digital commerce infrastructure across its retail portfolio in the GCC. The engagement spanned multiple work streams delivered over an extended partnership: resolving critical catalog performance bottlenecks through PowerListing integration, building native mobile applications with bilingual support, unifying product data management through Pimcore, connecting commerce platforms to ERP systems for real-time data accuracy, automating customer communication, enabling click and collect, and launching a new regional storefront on Adobe Commerce and Pimcore in under two weeks. Across every engagement, Codilar operated as a single accountable partner for the group's full commerce technology stack.
Business Challenges
Category and filter pages loading between 3 and 6 seconds across the group's high-volume catalogs
Sort operations averaging 4 seconds per interaction on a predominantly mobile-first customer base

No regional digital storefront for one of the group's key brand partnerships despite a significant physical retail presence
Manual product data updates creating operational overhead and accuracy risks across the portfolio
No automated customer communication across registration, orders, and delivery touchpoints
Arabic localization incomplete for the group's Arabic-speaking customer base across key markets
Codilar's Solution Approach
Built native Android and iOS applications with a bilingual English and Arabic language switcher

One Partner, Three Brands & Six Markets: The Story Behind Lals Group's eCommerce Success
Proof of Concept to Excellence
The first time Lals Group worked with Codilar, the scope was contained. A performance problem on a single brand property. The kind of engagement that most agencies treat as a transactional fix and move on from. Codilar treated it differently. The problem was diagnosed properly, fixed at the root, and the results were measurable.
That difference in approach is what made the second engagement possible. And the third. Each brief that followed was larger, more complex, and more consequential than the one before it. Each was delivered to the same standard. That consistency is not a coincidence. It is the reason a retail group with the depth and operational standards of Lals Group kept expanding a relationship that started with a single catalog performance issue and grew into a partnership covering multiple brand properties across the GCC.
Engineering For Performance
Across Lals Group's digital portfolio, the most immediate and measurable challenge was catalog performance. The group's retail brands carry high-volume product catalogs, spanning tens of thousands of SKUs across dozens of categories. On Magento's default layered navigation, every filter tap and sort interaction triggers a runtime database query. At the catalog scales Lals Group operates, that architecture produces load times of 3 to 6 seconds on category pages and 4 seconds on sort operations. On a mobile-first customer base that shops with the same immediacy it expects from physical stores, those wait times were driving drop-off before a single product was properly considered.
Codilar's answer was PowerListing, a proprietary product listing solution built specifically for large-catalog Adobe Commerce environments. Rather than processing at runtime, PowerListing restructures how listing data is indexed so that filter and sort responses are served from pre-computed results. Across the group's catalog properties, filter load times dropped by up to 77%, sort operations improved by up to 75%, and overall product listing page load times fell by more than half. The catalogs that had been performance liabilities became what they were always supposed to be: competitive advantages.
The Consumer Experience Playbook
The majority of Lals Group's digital shoppers browse on mobile. For a retail group serving multicultural GCC households across furniture, baby products, and children's apparel, that means an audience with high expectations and limited patience for an experience that does not feel built for the device in their hand. Web sessions resized for mobile screens were not the answer.
Codilar built native Android and iOS applications tailored to how the group's customers actually browse and buy. Custom mobile APIs were developed alongside the applications, optimized specifically for mobile search and listing behaviors rather than adapted from existing web layers. The bilingual requirement, English and Arabic across the UAE and Qatar, was built in from the start, not retrofitted. A language switcher at the application's entry point allowed customers to set their preference at the beginning of every session. The result was a genuinely bilingual mobile experience across the group's key markets.

Getting the Data Right
A high-performing storefront built on inaccurate data is a different kind of problem. It surfaces at checkout, in search results, and in the gap between what a customer sees online and what they receive. For a retail group managing hundreds of thousands of SKUs across multiple brands without a centralized product information management system, that gap was a structural risk.
Codilar implemented Pimcore as the central PIM backbone across the relevant group properties, integrated directly with Adobe Commerce to create a single, governed source of truth for product data across the full catalog. A queueing system within Pimcore enabled faster batch processing of product information updates, so that changes across hundreds or thousands of SKUs could be handled efficiently. Product details, prices, and inventory levels now update automatically, removing both the operational overhead and the accuracy risk that came with manual management at catalog scale.
Success Transformation: First to Third Brand
One of the group's key brand partnerships had a significant physical retail presence across six GCC markets but no dedicated regional digital storefront. Shoppers who knew the brand, trusted its products, and wanted to buy online had no direct channel to do so. For a retail group with Lals Group's operational standards, that gap was not acceptable.
Codilar was already the group's commerce partner when this brief arrived. There was no discovery phase to establish trust, no onboarding period to understand the infrastructure. The team already knew how the group's shared commerce architecture was built, how the teams worked, and what the standard for a Lals Group digital brand experience looked like. A fully functional, performance-engineered regional storefront, built on Adobe Commerce and Pimcore, managing 12,000-plus SKUs across six markets on a shared infrastructure instance, went live in fourteen days. Product listing pages loaded in under 2 seconds. Filter and category interactions responded in under 800 milliseconds.
That delivery speed was not a function of shortcuts. It was a function of an existing partnership where the context, the architecture, and the operating standards were already shared. It is what working with a group-level partner looks like when the relationship has been built correctly.
The Commerce Operations Nobody Sees
Behind the storefronts and the mobile applications, Codilar built the operational layer that keeps a retail group's digital properties running. ERP integration across the portfolio brought real-time synchronization of pricing, inventory, and product data, removing the manual processes that created accuracy risks at scale. An automated SMS notification system, covering every meaningful customer touchpoint from registration to delivery, closed the communication gaps that had been leaving customers uncertain about their orders. Click and collect, with store selection and predefined time slot booking, connected the group's digital channels to its network of physical locations across the GCC.
These are not headline features. They are the infrastructure that determines whether a retail group's digital operation works as reliably as its physical one. For Lals Group, getting this layer right was as important as the performance work or the mobile applications. A storefront that loads fast and looks good but cannot communicate accurately with its customers or its own back-end systems is not a commerce operation. It is an expensive front end.
Your Portfolio Deserves the Same Standard
Codilar partnered with Lals Group to build and optimize the digital commerce infrastructure behind a multi-brand GCC retail portfolio, resolving catalog performance at scale, delivering native mobile commerce, unifying product data through Pimcore, automating customer communication, and launching a new regional storefront in under two weeks. Every engagement was delivered by the same partner, building on the context and trust established by the one before it.
If your retail group is managing multiple brands on commerce infrastructure that is not keeping pace with the business, Codilar has built this kind of partnership before and can build it for you.
