May 2025 introduced a new wave of innovation and developments on the leading commerce platforms and technology players, further building on the trend we’ve witnessed in the industry. Platform Updates

1. Adobe – Strategic Efforts towards Fostering Creativity in India

On May 1, Adobe announced a set of initiatives under its WAVES strategy with the intention of empowering India’s creator economy. These initiatives are increased access for students and creators to Adobe Express, partnerships with Indian schools and colleges, and AI-enabled solutions, which can make creative workflows more streamlined. Adobe also rolled out Adobe Express for Education and its pledge in favor of India’s “Create in India” agenda with a view towards creating a generation of digitally literate content creators.

2. Adobe Express – AI-Powered Video Editing Tools

Adobe revealed new AI capabilities in Adobe Express at Adobe MAX London 2025. Most interestingly, the Clip Maker feature now automatically shortens long videos such as interviews or podcasts into short, ready-for-social-media clips. There’s also a Generate Video option, turning text/image inputs into B-rolls, as well as Dynamic Animation, adding realistic movement effects such as “Wind” or “Wobble” to fixed images, all significantly streamlining video production.

3. Horizon: 10 New Free Themes by Shopify

There are 10 new free themes launched by Shopify, which are optimized for easy setup, lightning-fast performance, and mobile-friendliness. Whether it’s apparel, electronics, or home decor, the themes are specifically designed for a wide range of businesses, providing style and velocity without the necessity for custom coding.

4. Shopify Summer ’25 Edition Is Now Live

The Summer ’25 Edition sees the addition of new features, such as AI insights, search customization, and upgrades to B2B tools. Merchants can also leverage the enhancements in Shopify Flow, Markets Pro, as well as the new Combined Listings feature for easier multichannel selling.

5. Shopify – Introducing Shopify Catalog

The Shopify Catalog allows you to have one place for managing product information across multiple sales channels. It simplifies the management of listings, allows faster editing, keeps your storefronts, marketplaces, and social channels in line with one another, and allows businesses to scale with less operational complexity.

1. Google DeepMind – Veo 3 Announced

Introducing Veo 3, Google DeepMind’s next-generation video generation model based on the abilities of Veo 2. Veo 2 could generate realistic videos based on text, and the Veo 3 model makes more improvements, taking scene management, and the consistency of movement to another level. It makes sure that the video can be used for commercial, creative, and eCommerce use cases.

2. Google – AI-Powered Shopping with Virtual Try-On

As mentioned under the platform updates, Google has improved the virtual try-on functionality with AI Mode. This feature boosts the interactivity as well as the confidence-inducing nature of shopping for clothes online by showcasing how the garments might look on users in real-life scenarios.

3. Amazon – AI-Powered Audio Summaries

Amazon introduced audio highlights for product listings to let shoppers “hear” the most relevant details about a product instead of reading through long descriptions. Powered by AI, this feature enhances accessibility and helps customers quickly grasp product value while multitasking or browsing on the move.

4. Instagram – Launches Unlockable Reels

Instagram has developed Unlockable Reels, a new feature allowing creators to lock special content behind secret codes. Viewers must enter the correct code to access the hidden reel. This brings a fun, interactive twist to content viewing and opens up new monetization opportunities for creators.

5. LinkedIn – Extends Video Ad Choices

At the 2025 NewFronts, LinkedIn introduced new video ad placements, such as in-stream, Thought Leader Ads, and conversational storytelling formats. These changes are intended to bring more compelling formats and larger exposure for B2B marketers in the professional network.
